Kakkoi

About

Kakkoi is an endless runner where you play as a koifish and travel up the mountain in order to become a dragon.

This game was developed in Unity and my main responsibilities was the audio, HUD and a small amount of shader work

UI

HUD

- I implemented a score/points counter which also counted the total number of dragonflies (score pickups) that has been picked up. I managed to make a relatively juicy score counter by making it transition from previous score to current score, and scaling the text up and down while it was transitioning.

- I also implemented powerup elements which showed which of our three powerups (ghost, speed, jump) were active and how long until they ended.

Audio

- I sourced and implemented all audio clips which made it into the game with the exception of the wonderful music, which was created by Sixten Schelin.

Engine

VFX

- I created a water shader using unity's visual shader graph. The shader creates foam around the edges of objects and a depth fade changes the color of the objects underneath based on scene depth. It also supported water refraction and waves (vertex movement), however this was not used in the final product
